Can martial arts really be used for self defense in a street fight?

I’ve been getting into a lot of fights recently (some were won and others went awfully), so my parents agreed to let me find a place to take up a martial art. There are two places close to me: one for taekwando and one for karate. So, I want to know, will either of these help me defend myself if someone is pushing me around, or are they more for fights in martial art competitions? Is one better for defense in a street fight that the other? Thanks.

Can Clorox fumes induce Asthma like symptoms on a non-Asthmatic?

Well…. A few days ago, I took a wiz in the toilet and noticed a smell of Clorox, soon after that my chest felt tight and kept on coughing vigorously for a few minutes. I have a childhood asthma and I’m just wondering if it would have the same effect on a non-Asthmatic.

TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IN REAL STREETFIGHTS: What martial arts would help most or help least in a fight?

If you have been a real streetfight (exchanging punches, fight until someone is on the floor type of brawl) what martial art (or arts) helped you?

What martial arts do you think would help in the fight or fights you have been in?

What martial arts do you think would be least helpful for real fights?

What kind of training is most helpful? Full-contact sparring? Groundifighting? Traditional martial arts? Combat sports like boxing or wrestling?

Five brief questions about asthma inhalers?

I have been diagnosed with mild asthma and I have to buy an inhaler to use in emergencies. 10 points if you can help me out here with general questions about inhalers:

1) How long until they start to work less effectively (expre)?
2) How many uses do they have until there are no more uses left?
3) How much do they usually cost?
4) Any bad side effects?
5) Any longterm health effects of using it only once in a while (in emergencies)?

Thank you!
